• Plastid biogenesis and differentiation.- Structure, function, and inheritance of plastid genomes.- DNA replication, recombination, and repair in plastids.- Transcription and transcriptional regulation in plastids.- Processing, degradation, and polyadenylation of chloroplast transcripts.- RNA splicing and RNA editing in chloroplasts.- Translation and translational regulation in chloroplasts.- Assembly of protein complexes in plastids.- Protein stability and degradation in plastids.- Protein import into plastids.- Insights into chloroplast proteomics: from basic principles to new horizons.- Plastid-nucleus communication: anterograde and retrograde signalling in the development and function of plastids.- The genetic transformation of plastids.

From the reviews: "As the title suggests, the emphasis of the book is on molecular aspects of plastid biology. ... this volume gives an excellent overview of the progress and current status of molecular studies on plastids, particularly on chloroplast. The book is recommended for all plant molecular biologists, primarily for those working in plastid biology, photosynthesis, and biotechnology." (M. Tichy, Photosynthetica, Vol. 46 (3), 2008)
