Recensioner i media
"A welcome and refreshing departure from the usual type of publication about an ancient city... the first comprehensive treatment of the history of a major ancient settlement at the interface of several important cultural, political and religious forces throughout its long history. As such, it has an especially colourful and interesting story, now enhanced by recent archaeological excavation on the site. The author has done full justice to this and presented an engrossing and well written narrative." - James Russell, Professor Emeritus, University of British Columbia 'A carefully contextualised history of the place ranging from earliest times down to the present day. Lucidly written and generously illustrated, it can be read with profit by anyone with an interest in the Near East.' - The Journal of Classics Teaching 'The book covers exciting fresh ground and is an excellent opening into a fascinating ancient city known to few.' - Minerva Book Reviews, spring 2006 'Wilson, a professor from Pepperdine University, has spent two decades excavating the site and pondering the community that lived by the cave of Pan.' Robert. W Smith.
