In southern Mali, between Siby and Kalassa, a number of facilities for the CAAS development aid project have been established since 2018. A campus provides training for young women in small-scale agricultural techniques, while a farm serves as a center for practical training and production. The buildings are complemented by individual initiatives in the areas of education, sport, medical care, and infrastructure. This publication documents the project by the Munich-based firm Wieland Schmidt Architekten in depth, from the urban scale to the smallest detail, and explains how it takes the climatic conditions of the Sahel into account. Contributions from external experts shed light on the development of the overall project, provide architectural-historical and sociological context, and show how the plans are shaping the village beyond the edges of the campus. Extensive visual materialInsights into climate-adapted building through diagrams, drawings, and detailsComprehensive presentation of the origin, development, project process, and regional construction practices
