Muharem Bazdulj, born in Travnik, Bosnia in 1977, is one of the leading writers of the younger generation to appear in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. He writes in a wide variety of genres, including novels, short stories, poetry, and essays; he is also active as a journalist and a translator. Bazdulj is the author of nine books so far, including the short story collections One Like a Song, 1999, Druga knjiga (Another Book), 2000, The Travnicko trojstvo (The Travnik Three) 2002, Carolija, (Magic) 2008, as well as the novels Koncert (Concert), 2003, Tranzit, kometa, pomracenje (Transit, Comet, Eclipse), 2007 and Sjetva soli ( Sowing Salt ) 2011. The Second Book, a collection of short stories, was published in English translation by Northwestern University Press in 2005.
