Business Research Projects for Students

Many business and management qualification courses require the student to research and write an extended project as part of the requirements for successful graduation. The purpose of this book is to provide the student with a set of guidelines, methods and techniques appropriate to in-company research work, with the intention of making the process as straightforward as possible. It deals with the stages of project work in the order in which students are likely to encounter them. It takes the reader from choosing a topic and identifying the standards expected, via reading-up and thinking through the ideas involved to gathering and analyzing the data and then writing the results up for submission. The aim is to do all this in a practical and problem-oriented way, paying attention to less obvious but equally important considerations such as the purpose, objectives and terms of reference of project work; the role relationship with and dependence on key individuals in the student's organization; and the special need for explicit and careful design of the empirical stages of project work.The distinct and specialized needs of undergraduates, DMS MBA and professionals are addressed separately, the material being highlighted by a coding system.
