It tells of how this young woman from northeast Yorkshire rises up from the strife of daily life, to find her way to a place that she never believed possible.The action spans the years 1916 to 1952 in England with most events and relationships accurate. This full-length dramatization is representative of not so much an extraordinary life lived, but of an ordinary, working-class, Yorkshire-woman experiencing extraordinary times. This two-act play portrays 11 characters, but can be played with only 4 actors (it is written specifically for doubling).
