Military service involves exposure to multiple sources of chronic, acute, and potentially traumatic stress, especially during deployment and combat. Notoriously variable, the effects of stress can be subtle to severe, immediate or delayed, impairing individual and group readiness, operational performance, and—ultimately—survival.
