This book focuses on the use of bio-inspired computational approaches such as evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, and neural-inspired models together with data fusion techniques for advancing the design of AI-driven healthcare systems. The chapters will highlight both theoretical underpinnings and practical implementations, showing how nature-inspired algorithms can be applied to integrate multi-source data for better disease detection, treatment personalization, and health monitoring.The digital transformation of healthcare has resulted in enormous volumes of heterogeneous data from medical imaging, electronic health records, IoT-based monitoring devices, and genomics. Making sense of such complex and diverse data requires models that can learn, adapt, and respond effectively.Special attention is given to explainable and trustworthy AI, as well as to emerging areas like blockchain-based secure health data management, federated learning for collaborative healthcare AI, and small language models (SLMs) for lightweight, resource-efficient clinical decision support. By blending foundational methods with real-world applications, the book aims to serve as a comprehensive reference for the future of intelligent healthcare technologies.

Dr. Jay Kumar Pandey is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki (U.P.) India. Dr. Pandey has completed his Ph.D. and has done his M.Tech. with specialization in Power Control (Instrumentation), and also done his MBA in Finance and Marketing. His subjects of interest are related to Artificial Intelligence, Biomedical & Healthcare, Image Processing, Machine Learning,Business Management and Renewable Energy. He has 15 years of teaching and research experience, has published more than 30 research papers in National and International journals /conferences & Book Chapters in CRC, NOVA, Taylor & Francis, Springer, and IGI Publisher. Dr. Pandey is an editor of books (edited) published by reputed publishers Apple Academy Press, IGI, Elsevier, Wiley-IEEE, NOVA, Bentham Science, IAP, Emerald Publication, Springer, CRC, Scrivener -Wiley, River Publisher, Taylor & Francis & Cambridge Scholar .Dr. Pandey is also Editor of the Journal of Technology Innovations and Energy United States. Dr. Pandey has been a reviewer in different conferences/journals/Book Chapters like (The Journal of Supercomputing in Springer Nature, IGI publishing, Journal of Security and Communication Networks Hindawi, Journal of Biomimetics, Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (JBBBE) Scientific Net, Switzerland, Advanced Engineering Forum (AEF) Scientific Net, Switzerland),Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.Dr. Kumari holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering and specializes in AI in healthcare, bio-inspired computation, and clinical decision support systems. She has authored numerous SCI-indexed publications and led interdisciplinary research projects focused on real-world medical applications of AI. Her vision bridges the gap between computational intelligence and human-centric healthcare design.Dr. Haipeng Liu received his Bachelor and Master in Engineering degrees from Zhejiang University, China, in 2012 and 2015, respectively, and Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, in 2018. From 2019 to 2020, he was a research fellow with the Medical Technology Research Center, Anglia Ruskin University. Since 2020, he has been a research fellow with Coventry University, UK. He is the author of over 60 journal articles and 10 conference papers. He has delivered 12 invited talks for international conferences, universities, and research institutes. He is a receiver of two British Heart Foundation Travel Awards, a Director of Studies (Dos) of two PhD students, and an editorial member of six academic journals. He is a reviewer of more than 60 articles from 24 journals, 4 international conferences, and one book proposal. His research interests include biomechanics, physiological measurement, and computational simulation of cardiovascular diseases.
