Beyond Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II)

The logic of Manufactured Resource Planning (MRP II) is usually implemented in production planning and control systems and therefore has a major impact on the performance of many real production systems. Much of what practitioners complain about, such as long lead times, high in-work-process and large inventories, is due to the deficiencies of the MRP II concept. Researchers are eager to find better models and methods to improve or replace the current status. This work contains ideas on master production scheduling, material requirements planning, lot sizing, sequencing and scheduling, and production control.
