The first ten years of the 21st century were a fast-moving, event-filled decade -- and there was no exception in the NHL. Legendary players, including Patrick Roy, Brendan Shanahan, and Joe Sakic, all hung up their skates, clearing the ice for stunning debuts from astonishingly talented young players like Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, and Patrick Kane.
