"Overall, this is a handy translation of one of the most important Old-English literary texts. It makes the text quite readable and hence enjoyable for the students."--A. Classen, University of Arizona"Good introductory material--not too technical or detailed for the sophomore or for a class in which we can only spend about one week on each work. Translation is good. Reads fairly naturally without resorting to colloquialisms."--Dennis Kearney, University of Mississippi"Accessible text for students at any level; retains the essence of its original; printed in comfortable type on substantial paper; printed with generous margins that encourage student notations."--Dr. Scott Douglass, Chattanooga State Technical Community College"I examined six different editions for use in my class of sophomore non-majors. This edition is powerful poetry combined with an excellent introduction. The poetry achieves far more clarity than any prose I've seen."--Rebecca Martin, Pace University
