Dr. Katie Alaniz serves as Director of the Center for Learning Innovations and Teaching Excellence (C-LITE) and an Associate Professor of Education at Houston Christian University. As a teacher and digital learning specialist for nearly two decades in public and private schools, Dr. Alaniz supports educators in meaningfully integrating digital tools for learning. Dr. Alaniz has designed and delivered more than 150 professional presentations in the United States and abroad, and she has authored and/or co-authored more than 20 publications, including the following six books: Naturalizing Digital Immigrants: The Power of Collegial Coaching for Technology Integration; Digital Media in Today's Classrooms: The Potential for Meaningful Teaching, Learning, and Assessment; Collegial Coaching: Mentoring for Knowledge and Skills That Transfer to Real-World Applications; The Maximizer Mindset: Work Less, Achieve More, Spread Joy; Authentic Assessment in Action: An Everyday Guide for Bringing Learning to Life through Meaningful Assessment; and A Learning Community Built on Strengths: Inspiring Educators to Positively Impact Student Lives. She was selected as a Fulbright Specialist by the J. William Fulbright Council for the International Exchange of Scholars. Additionally, Dr. Alaniz represented her college as the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Nominee in the 2019-2020 academic year and her university as the Minnie Stevens Piper Professor Nominee in the 2022-2023 academic year. She and her husband Steven reside in Houston, Texas.
