Rita Sakr is Associate Professor of Postcolonial and Global Literatures in the Department of English at Maynooth University, Ireland. She is the co-editor of two critical collections, co-director and coproducer of a documentary film on Beirut, and the author of ‘Anticipating’ the 2011 Arab Uprisings: Revolutionary Literatures and Political Geographies (Palgrave, 2013) and Monumental Space in the Post-Imperial Novel: An Interdisciplinary Study (Continuum, 2011; Bloomsbury Academic, 2012). Her articles and book chapters on contemporary Arab(ic) and Kurdish literatures and forced displacement have appeared in Journal of Postcolonial Writing, Journal of Urban Cultural Studies and Crossings: Journal of Migration and Culture, as well as in several edited volumes published by Cambridge UP, Edinburgh UP, I. B. Tauris, Oxford UP, Routledge and Toronto UP, among others.
