Dr. Frederick Kibenge is Professor of Virology at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island. He obtained his BVM from Makerere University and his PhD from Murdoch University, and he is the former Chairman of the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the Atlantic Veterinary College. Dr. Kibenge has more than 30 years of experience investigating animal viruses and the biology of viral pathogens. His research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of virus virulence to improve on methods of virus detection and control. Dr. Mark Powell is Adjunct Professor of Fish Pathology for the Department of Biology at University of Bergen in Norway. He is CEO of Marineholmen RASLab AS and has held roles such as Regional Manager and Senior Researcher at the Norwegian Institute for Water Research (NIVA) and a senior research scientist at the Institute of Marine Research. He has worked with fish health management in aquaculture for the past 20 years with particular reference to gill and cardiac diseases and disorders. He obtained his PhD from the University of Ottawa, Canada, in fish physiology and subsequently worked in Canada, Australia, and Europe focusing on fish health management and host–pathogen interactions.
