His clinical and research interests focus on improving the understanding, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports and activity-related problems of the knee and ankle. He was involved in the development of arthroscopic and biologic resurfacing techniques for ankle and knee following joint injuriesJoão Duarte Coelho do Sameiro Espregueira-Mendes is specializes in sports orthopedics, traumatology and knee surgery. During his career, he has been engaged in scientific research, university teaching, leadership of both national and international scientific societies and as Clinical Director of the Clinica do Dragão, Espregueira-Mendes Sports Centre – FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence. He was the President of the ESSKA and of the ESSKA Foundation in 2012-2014.
