Anna-Eva Bergmann

Around 40 paintings and prints from Bergman’s creative period between 1940 and 1970 illustrate the artist’s development – from early humorous illustrations and socially critical drawings to the large-format abstract landscapes in gold and silver with which she gained international recognition from the late 1950s onwards. Norway’s austere natural landscape served as the starting point for her increasingly abstract work, in which the interplay of structure, composition, colour and light came to the fore.
