Annette Anthony, mother, daughter of Philadelphia, American, British, businessperson, and writer, began her career as counsel at the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. Always Enough, her first book, celebrates an upbringing that facilitated her entry into other cultures and cuisines and shares recipes from a most unexpected life in Europe and Africa. She is a fellow of the Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation (USA), a Hedgebrook Master Class alum, and graduate of Georgetown University and Columbia Law School. Annette enjoys gatherings around good food and exploring near and far. She lives in England.

“Reminiscent of a community cookbook, Anthony’s debut offers memories and recipes of dishes she enjoyed during her travels on three continents. Anthony began writing this memoir to offer her two sons a glimpse into her life before she became their ‘maman.’ However, the work quickly evolved into an expression of the similarities and differences that exist across cultures. Anthony’s journey begins in the U.S., reflecting on her childhood in West Philadelphia and sharing family favorites, before setting off to Europe, where she came to appreciate that ‘simplicity often yields the best results.’ Next, Anthony found herself in Africa, where she explored the local markets, reflected on her heritage, and came to realize that when friends stop by, ‘There is always enough.’ Anthony’s journey ends in London, which she currently calls home.
