Nitish De presents the first systematic treatment of work improvement projects in industrial and non-industrial sectors for India and for other Third World countries. He begins with a review of work redesign programmes, presenting case studies of actual experiments conducted in nine organizations. The author then presents his own view of the human ideals and values that form the foundation on which organizations can be made more effective, and which will provide a meaningful existence to those working in organizations.
