AJS 7R ‘Boy Racer’ Motorcycle

Produced between 1948 and 1963 by Associated Motorcycles, the AJS 7R became a legend in its own lifetime. Often known as the ‘Boy Racer’, it was highly successful as a racing motorcycle, winning the 1961, 1962 and 1963 junior Manx TT Grand Prix races and coming second in 1966.In this book, AJS racing expert Andrew Stevens uncovers previously unpublished archive material to tell the full story of this remarkable motorcycle. He describes the development of the motorcycle and its evolution as lessons were learned from successive races. These included increases in power as well as the streamlining of the body to improve aerodynamics. The result was a motorcycle that was as brisk as it was beautiful. The book also includes the memories of British racing riders, almost all of whom rode an AJS 7R at some stage in their careers. Long after its heyday, the AJS 7R is still a regular feature at classic races and shows today.Complete with contemporary black and white and colour photographs, this book is the essential guide to one of Britain’s most famous racing motorcycles.
