Airway Mucus: Basic Mechanisms and Clinical Perspectives

Although conceptually unsavoury, airway mucus is nevertheless vital to homeostasis in the respiratory tract. When abnormal, however, mucus contributes to the pathophysiology of severe bronchial diseases, such as chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, and asthma.
