Prof. Jeevan Jaidi is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. He obtained PhD degree in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 2003, and worked on “Weld-pool Dynamics Study and Prediction of Macro- and Microstructures in Gas Metal Arc Welding of Low-Carbon Steels”. Prior to joining BITS Pilani, Hyderabad in 2009, he worked as Scientist in Process Engineering R&D at Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC), Pune, India for 6 years. His research interests are coupled phenomena modelling, validation, analysis, and optimization of advanced welding and additive manufacturing processes, thermal management coolant system designs for Li-ion batteries, phase change materials and heat pipes. He has been supervising PhD scholars (1 completed and 2 pursuing) on numerical and experimental studies of friction stir welding (FSW) and resistance spot welding (RSW) processes. He has published over 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He is an Hon. Secretary of The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW-India), Hyderabad branch.Dr. Shaju K. Albert graduated from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in metallurgy in 1984. He then joined Dept. of Atomic Energy and after one year of training in nuclear engineering at BARC, he joined Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) in 1985. Since then, he had been working in the area of welding and joining and superannuated recently as Director of Metallurgy & Materials Group and Material Science Group at IGCAR. He obtained his Ph.D. in 1997 from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He is a Fellow of the Indian Institute of Metals. He is recipient of STA and JSPS fellowships of Government of Japan and worked as Research Fellow under these fellowships in National Institute of Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan (2001-2003). He also worked as a scientist in MPA (Materialprüfungsanstalt, Material Testing Institute) Stuttgart, Germany (2010). He has published extensively in the area of material joining and hardfacing, and is recipient of Gold Medal of Indian Nuclear Society, Science Technology Excellence Award of Dept. of Atomic Energy and many best paper awards of the Indian Institute of Welding. He is currently Chairman of the MTD-11, Welding General and Application Sectional Committee of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Chairman, Advisory Board, Authorized National Body (ANB) of Indian Institute of Welding. He is currently Associate Editor of Welding in the World, the official Journal of the International Institute of Welding.Dr. G. M. Karthik is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Before his current role, he served as a Research Assistant Professor at Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH), South Korea. His research primarily focuses on additive manufacturing and materials joining. Dr. Karthik is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Brain Pool Fellowship, Academic Fellowship, Weldwell Specialty Award, Sudharshan Bhat Memorial Award, Academic Proficiency Award, and the Shastri Institutional Research Collaboration Development Grant. His scholarly work is well-recognized, with over 40 journal articles in internationally reputed journals, and at many international conferences.
