In six lectures Gunton analyses the concept of revelation, contends that natural theology and natural revelation are distinct, and considers revelation in relation to scripture and tradition, as well as the nature of inspiration. This work remains an important contribution to the ongoing theological debate that argues against reducing Christianity to revelation and ensuring that the Christian faith 'is not to be reduced to knowledge'.
