Spanning a period from the reign of Henry VIII to the Restoration, this is the third volume in a series of poetry anthologies illustrated with contemporary paintings. It includes poems by Sir Philip Sidney, Ben Jonson and Shakespeare, and the paintings have been selected from one of the great periods of European art - the Italian and Northern Renaissance. Among the artists represented are Botticelli, Titian and Caravaggio.
