After travelling the country as a carnival medium, Isabelle "Izzy" Beaulieu is ready to upgrade her clientele. She and her father travel to the San Francisco home of wealthy widow, Mrs Ellison. Izzy can't actually speak to anyone's lost loved ones- instead she uses clever research and parlor tricks to make everyone think she can. That is, until two unexpected visitors arrive at the seance- Mrs Ellison's handyman, Will, and the ghost of his late wife, Rose. Will begs Izzy to help him find out who murdered Rose. the ghost can't remember her death and is reluctant to help Izzy if it means she can deceive others. When the head of the local spiritualist society finds out that Izzy is in town and trying to poach rich clients, she demands a test to prove Izzy's abilities. Izzy may now be able to speak with a ghost, but she doesn't know how to find others/ To make matters worse, she finds herself growing more attracted to the handsome widower. Unable to tell her father the truth for fear he'll think she's lost her mind, Izzy constantly navigates truths, lies, and who can know which is which...
