Whoosh

Part exploration of ecological collapse, part memoir undressing a late-life Autism diagnosis. Michael Trussler’s Whoosh is an unwavering collection of “rambles / more rogue than feral.” Bypassing the limitations of linear thought, this unforgettable book is a maelstrom of the contemporary moment that’s simultaneously urgent and adrift, floating and incisive. Trussler draws influence from modern artistic movements, political insecurity, the internet, and environmental grief to dovetail both the unexpected and the intimately familiar. Lyric and experimental, these blazing poems collapse in on themselves and each other, lines and thoughts expanding and colliding to perfectly embody the connectedness of our world’s chaos.
