Jarrod Hayes was an expert in postcolonial and queer theory. In Australia he led French Studies inter alia as editor of the Australian Journal of French Studies. Following his move to Monash University, Jarrod became interested in new ways of thinking of crime fiction. This book is the culmination of his work in the field at the time of his untimely death in June 2025. Alistair Rolls and Clara Sitbon have both written extensively on Boris Vian, on crime fiction and, currently, on Australian author Carter Brown. Alistair Rolls is Associate Professor of French Studies at the University of Newcastle, Australia. Clara Sitbon is Senior Lecturer in French Studies at the University of Sydney. Currently, she is 2025 Nancy Keesing AM Fellow at the State Library of New South Wales and Vice-President of the Australian Society for French Studies.
