Teaching Writing in the AI Age

Well-researched and engaged with the philosophical and technological story of generative artificial intelligence's (GAI's) development, this book offers analytical assignments that invite students to interrogate our species' quest to represent and create 'other minds.' Grappling with the complexity of the policy, access, ethical and intellectual challenges created by generative AI use in the writing classroom and beyond, this book reifies and emphasizes the crucial importance of remaining the human-in-the-loop. In addition to best practices for GAI usage in and out of the writing classroom, Robinson provides informed, clear and practical suggestions and exercises for teaching writing in the age of generative artificial intelligence. Students and their teachers will come away with critical AI literacy that travels across their other classes and into the world beyond the academy.
