Sun at Eye Level

A lifetime of poems that find the extraordinary in fractured families, hard-won sobriety, ordinary work and the fragile moments when grace breaks through. In The Sun at Eye Level, Guggenheim Fellow and American Academy of Arts & Letters Award winner Jeffrey Skinner gathers a lifetime of work into one luminous, hard-won volume. Spanning decades of poems that have appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Poetry, The Paris Review, and elsewhere, this selected collection moves with restless clarity through the territories that have always claimed him: family and fracture, work and wonder, sobriety and grace, the ordinary day lit by something larger.
