One promising area of current research involves investigating the intestinal microbiomes of children with inflammatory bowel diseases.Judith R Kelsen, MD, is Program Director of the Very Early Onset Inflammatory Bowel Disease (VEO-IBD) Clinic and an Attending Physician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.Jonathan Markowitz, M.D, served on faculty at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for approximately 5 years before he joined Greenville Children's Hospital in 2006, where he has served as division chief of pediatric gastroenterology for the last 6 years. He is a clinical professor of pediatrics at USC School of Medicine-Greenville.Dr. Markowitz' research interests include eosinophilic esophagitis and inflammatory bowel disease. He has authored numerous articles and has lectured nationally and internationally. He is co-editor of Eosinophilic Esophagitis and Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease. Dr. Markowitz has been featured in local and national media.
