The Mexican government was in shambles, the financial markets had collapsed, the rich had become the middle-class, and poor were now destitute. With no hope in sight, a massive wave of humanity trudged toward what they envisioned would be their salvation, America. As the border with the US buckled under the weight of humankind, with individuals seeking the freedom of US citizenship and the promise of entitlement-rich lives, confrontation was inevitable. Suddenly, American households throughout the southwest found themselves in a struggle to protect themselves as they encountered the sheer brute force of the now, starving Mexicans. With an inept and corrupt administration in Washington, the Border States floundered in their attempt to defend their citizenry. Decades of American politicians using the immigration problems at the US-Mexico border as a political bargaining chip had left those federal agencies whose responsibility it was to secure the border, useless in dealing with the invasion. As the invasion progressed further and further into the United States, the Walther brothers, each living in a different border state, were severely impacted. With no hope in sight, the brothers struggled for their very existence while the emotions of love and loss consumed them.
