Infant Mortality in India

The editors provide a state-of-the-art review of the scattered Indian literature on infant mortality. A multivariate analysis assesses the relative contribution of vaccination, birth attendants, mother's literacy and poverty in explaining inter-state differences in rural infant mortality. Chapters report on community health projects and examine the correlates and determinants of infant mortality in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.
