India's Textile Sector

This study of the impact of state intervention on India's textile industry is not only empirical and evaluative but also prescriptive. The author provides a cogent explanation for the poor performance of this industry in India in contrast to other Asian countries which produce textiles. He makes out a powerful case for substantially deregulating India's textile sector and outlines alternative policy options.
