This collection of 33 papers, written by career diplomats, seeks to examine the different aspects of Indian diplomacy during the last six decades. Going deep into India's relations with many countries, including Bhutan, Sri Lanka, China, Myanmar, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Africa, Russia, United States, Japan, Iran, Mexico and Korea, it addresses the important issues facing the world, such as ethnic conflicts, border disputes, the turmoil in the Middle East, future of UN peacekeeping, energy security, and cultural diplomacy. It also enquires whether it is hard power or the soft power or the soul power that serves national interests best and whether the days of quiet diplomacy are numbered.
