Under their aprilkind label, Steffi and Michael Gerharzdesign and develop stories and stuffed toys for children. They live withtheir three children in Troisdorf, near Cologne, Germany. They got theidea for the Grumbletroll when their youngest daughter sat across fromthem at the breakfast table, sulking and grumbling with her armscrossed. Barbara van den Speulhof is a children’s book author and director and producer of radio plays for children. After forays into mechanical engineering and architecture, Stephan Prickenfirst studied elementary school teaching with a focus on art andultimately graphic design in Münster, where he now lives and works as afreelance illustrator.
