GI Offensive in Europe

An account of the GI offensive in Europe. From the mobilization of an ill-trained and poorly-equipped army in 1940 to the juggernaut of 69 infantry divisions in 1945, Peter R. Mansoor provides an analysis of the long and bloody road to victory over the German army. The work also touches on questions that the Army is currently considering, ranging from issues of logistical support and manning to the debate over independent brigades.
