Elementary Particle Physics

This textbook emphasizes the fundamental concepts and their phenomenological consequences in the physics of elementary particles. After an introduction to the theory of quantized fields, the author deals in the second part with quantum electrodynamics and in the third part with quantum chromodynamics. In the fourth part the unifying principle of working with gauge groups is applied to explain the electroweak interaction. This edition covers theoretical particle physics from its very roots, hadrons and their interactions, and the Higgs mechanism. The author's main goals are to present the standard model and to make a detailed comparison between theoretical and experimental results in particle physics.
