Jude T. Austin II, PhD, LPC, LMFT, NCC, CCMHC, is an assistant professor in the counseling program at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and serves as the program’s clinical mental health counseling track coordinator. He is also in private practice in Belton, Texas, working with individuals, couples, and families. His research focuses on counselor education pedagogy, specifically on finding ways to help counseling students develop therapeutic presence in session. He is the coauthor of the books Counselor Self-Care (2018) and Surviving and Thriving in Your Counseling Program (2020), published by the American Counseling Association (ACA), and The Counselor Educator’s Guide: Practical In-Class Strategies and Activities (2020), published by Springer Publishing. He was a 2021 ACA conference keynote speaker. Julius A. Austin, PhD, LPC, NCC, is an assistant professor in the counseling program at Grand Canyon University. He currently serves as the clinical director of a community-based private practice in Lafayette, Louisiana. His research focuses on counselor development and training. He is coauthor of the books Counselor Self-Care (2018) and Surviving and Thriving in Your Counseling Program (2020), published by ACA, and The Counselor Educator’s Guide: Practical In-Class Strategies and Activities (2020), published by Springer Publishing. He was a 2021 ACA conference keynote speaker.
