Its content is divided into 5 categories: state official visions, basic systems, concrete institutions, actual economic development, and interaction with the world economy. This book serves both as a handbook for scholars and a textbook for students. As a handbook, it seeks to provide scholars detailed and up-to-date source materials of major aspects of the Chinese economy – relevant statistical data, and highlights of official policy documents, laws and regulations, and communiqués. As a textbook, it seeks to inform students of the salient characteristics and overall character of Chinese economic transformation – with an emphasis on both accessibility and analytical depth.
