Dr. Paula Saine has produced a definitive work that uses literature and technology to connect early childhood students with persons from various cultures across the United States of America, and around the world. This book is written primarily to equip teachers with the knowledge-base of other cultures in order to inspire students to become culturally diverse and technologically proficient to enhance literacy. Her approach affords teachers an opportunity to help students fulfill one of the basic tenets of cultural proficiency, that of developing a value for diversity. In doing so, teachers build a balanced collection of culturally diverse children’s literature and through innovative technology, use it to help students better understand themselves and others. She has, as a result, developed a valuableteaching tool that fosters an “inside-out” process.
