The late George Forty served for 30 years in the Royal Tank Regiment before becoming curator of the RAC Tank Museum at Bovington in 1980 where he modernized the museum, tripling its size, and creating an establishment that rivalled any others. A prolific author, his earliest works—over 50 years ago—were on the Desert Rats and Afrika Korps. Simon Forty was educated in Dorset and the north of England before reading history at London University’s School of Slavonic and East European Studies. He has been involved in publishing since the mid-1970s, first as editor and latterly as author. His most recent titles include German Infantryman on the Eastern Front, Panzer Crewman, and Sturmartillerie Crewman in the Casemate Illustrated series.
