"As a child I loved reading books and it was a long time since I last read a children's novel, until I read the first in the series of 'The Adventures of Poppy and Lord Ted'. A beautiful, warm-hearted read for children that captures the wonderful relationship that the lead character 8-year-old Poppy has with a magical teddy bear called Lord Ted, her grandparents, and friends. The first adventure, The First Summer, focused on the theft of the crown jewels and the kidnapping of a warder from the Tower of London. As the story unfolded, Poppy and Lord Ted soon found themselves entangled in the mystery. Once I found out the story was to continue I could not wait to see what happens next and I was not disappointed. The Adventures of Poppy and Lord Ted: The Return of Saint Nick starts where The First Summer finishes; indeed it starts on chapter 25 which will encourage you to read The First Summer before you get here. Children will love the way the book grows with them; a little grittier in style the author has taken the reader on a journey. New characters emerge as the story twists from the delight of the wedding we were tantalised with at the end of the first book to a dramatic conclusion where Poppy and Lord Ted put themselves in real danger to save the future of the British Monarchy. The main criminal protagonist, Saint Nick, is determined to get what he needs to repay his investors after the first robbery went wrong but the police have other ideas. Just as the first book, I loved the tale with family values and the delightful relationship between a granddaughter and her grandparents - if only every childhood could be like this. Full of wit, magic, fun and adventure the sequel does not disappoint - a truly fabulous story. This is a beautifully written old-fashioned story full of adventure, excitement and lessons about what is important in life. It's a gripping storyline, making it difficult to put down at the end of each chapter as you really want to find out what happens next. If you are a fan of Enid Blyton books like myself, I think you would enjoy reading this beautiful story. Parents and grandparents - this series is a must for your children or grandchildren."
