Actions, Movements and Gestures

Bringing a philosophical mind set to the making, watching and thinking of dance, Noé Soulier’s Actions, Movements and Gestures is nothing less than a dance treatise for the 21st-century.Rethinking the tradition of classical ballet from modernist, postmodernist and contemporary perspectives, this English translation offers an array of analytical propositions that allow for multiple modes of looking at and creating dance movement. It offers an original rereading of classical and contemporary dance technique from the perspective of the practitioner-thinker and casts light on what it means to perceive and experience works of dance.
