Woman of Glass

In 1526 Rosa Faceby is a spirited young woman destined to work with her father in his glazing business and marry her mother's choice of husband. After an eighteen-month journey abroad with an introduction to the art and medicine of monasteries, her future has changed and will be interwoven with the life of Meaux Abbey.

Disembarking in Hull, she is plunged into Henry VIII's tumultuous England and she experiences, first-hand, the dangers for reforming monks. New laws make life more difficult and brings death ever nearer for herself, her friends and family - but there is the chance to bring hope with her coloured windows.

As anger simmers throughout communities, angry men in Northern England rise in revolt to save their faith. Is the total destruction of Meaux Abbey likely? Will Rosa's distant cousin Rauf Faceby, support the king and help bring the Abbey's downfall. Will her windows there be shattered? Can Rosa find a way through the turmoil and gain loving happiness at last?

Part of 'the Window Makers' trilogy, but also reads as a standalone story.
