Weather of Alberta

Alberta, located on the northwestern edge of North America's vast inland Great Plains, is subject to the weather extremes commonly associated with such grassland regions around the world-scorching hot summers, frigid winters, Chinooks that can swing the temperature from winter to summer in a couple of hours, and a penchant for windstorms. Talking about the weather is a time-honoured provincial pastime but with his new book Weather of Alberta, author and meteorologist Bill Hume injects a big helping of fact into all the folklore. Bill explains all the different weather patterns, cloud shapes, snowfall and windstorms in an easy-to-understand manner supplemented with graphics and photographs. He looks back on historic weather events in Alberta, analyzes the micro-climates in different regions of the province, and explains what, if anything, is changing about Alberta weather.
