Wastewater Anaerobic Treatment

In 1998 for the first time IAWQ added its sponsorship to a workshop conference (the fifth) of the Latin American Anaerobic Digestion group. From small beginnings these events have grown rapidly, so that this 5th workshop-seminar was attended by over 300 delegates from most of Latin America and a dozen countries outside the region. They participated in a high-quality programme with round table and workshop sessions followed by 2 seminar days. From the papers presented 32 have been selected for these proceedings they cover: Microbiological aspects Kinetics Modelling Design and process control in anaerobic digestion Anaerobic treatment of high-and low-strength wastewaters Effluent and post-treatments Anaerobic digestion of toxic residues Anaerobic digestion of solid wastes Use and management of sludge Full scale experiences. These papers have arisen from the thriving interest in anaerobic treatment across Latin America, but in their presentation of advanced research and insightful practical experiences they will prove of great value to scientists and engineers worldwide who are working on anaerobic treatments of wastewater.
