Thistle Down Moon

Maggie Bonanomi has been making handmade gifts for many years firstly to give to family and then as design projects for the owners of period properties. Eventually she started teaching wool applique and rug hooking and writing books for Kansas City Star Quilts.

I have never come across Maggie's work before, but now I see she has written at least three other books. I'm glad she's in my world now. I imagine her as one of those warm-hearted women we all need in our lives. This book is a treasure. Discovering an old quilt, Maggie let her creative qualities and imagination loose to create not only a new quilt, but also matching pillows. There are also mat and rug designs and beautiful velvet sewing accessories - a sewing case, lovely pea pod pincushion. In addition she has beautified the home with table runners and cross-stitch samplers. The templates are hand-drawn. If you love primitive style, you'll love this book. It's adorable. How could anyone resist a book with a title like this? Lovely fabrics, gorgeous projects, great photos and it's just a book you will want to keep.
