The Quest for the Historical Muhammad

An anthology of studies of Muhammad and early Islam since the beginnings of Islamic Studies in the nineteenth century. It calls into question the Koran as the basis for objective historical knowledge of Muhammad. It also questions the reliability of other Arabic documents that supposedly attest to events in the life of Muhammad and his followers.
