Subtitles and Language Learning

Yves Gambier is Full Professor in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Turku, Finland. He has published more than 180 articles and edited or co-edited 22 books about audiovisual translation, translation theory, language policy and language planning.Annamaria Caimi is Associate Professor of English at Pavia University, Italy. She has done research in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and the use of subtitles in language learning. She edited the volume Cinema: Paradiso delle Lingue.Cristina Mariotti is Assistant Professor of English at Pavia University, Italy. She has done research in English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) and the use of subtitles in language learning. She is the author of Interaction Strategies in English-medium Instruction.
