Shifting Paradigms in Collective Violence also considers the alternative collectivist approach, which shifts social identity from the self to the collective, thereby creating a cooperative orientation within the group. Olusanya explores the shortcomings of the individualistic and collectivist models of collective violence, and proposes a groundbreaking hybridization model. This model seeks to bridge the gap between the rival schools of thought, and offers a framework for comparing the effectiveness of different strategies for prosecuting large-scale crimes.
