Saul Goodman - the American Candide?

Josette Baer is senior lecturer at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UCM Trnava, Slovakia, and adjunct professor of political theory with a focus on Central and Eastern European political thought at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Zurich (UZH), Switzerland. She has published several books and peer-reviewed studies about Czechoslovak, Czech, Slovak, Bulgarian, Russian, and Macedonian political thought and politics.

In Central European academe, Josette Baer is known for her biographies of Slovak politicians and analysis of Czech and Slovak intellectual histories, with special consideration of the 19th and 20th centuries. This book proves that she is also an accomplished political theorist, focussing on Western political philosophy. Her essays, held in the free-floating style of Montaigne, offer a fascinating insight into how film as a medium can portray political thought – and this in a captivating and convincing fashion.
